More About Tau Kappa Epsilon
Personal Worth and Character
Founded more than a century ago, Tau Kappa Epsilon considers men "not for wealth, rank, or honor; but for personal worth and character."
Tau Kappa Epsilon includes a very diverse membership, and is the largest college fraternity in the world. TKE maintains chapters at more than 270 colleges and universities across the United States and Canada, in addition to more than 160 groups throughout Germany and Austria, through our confederation with the German Student Corps.
Since 1899, more than 226,000 men have accepted the challenge of membership in Tau Kappa Epsilon. They are men of sterling character who have become leaders in all walks of life.
TKE expects members to give serious attention to their academic performance. A strong academic record not only prepares a student for success after graduation, but it represents strength of mind to the world. Tau Kappa Epsilon helps our members excel in their academic life and helps them graduate. Membership in TKE dramatically increases the likelihood that you will graduate from college.
Generations of men have become successful in life as a result of their experiences in Tau Kappa Epsilon. TKE teaches the basic principles of effective living such as integrity, honesty, and patience, which are core values in our Fraternity. TKE members carry these principles with them throughout their lifetimes.
Tau Kappa Epsilon offers young men the opportunity to develop as leaders and prepares them to use those leadership skills throughout their lifetime. Tekes are encouraged to take an active leadership role in community, campus, and chapter activities. Studies show that 46% of U.S. senators and 31% of U.S. representatives are fraternity or sorority members, in addition to a majority of the men who have served as President of the United States. Ronald Reagan, the fortieth U.S. President, was a TKE member from our Iota Chapter at Eureka College, and remained active in the Fraternity throughout his lifetime.
Tau Kappa Epsilon believes that the backbone of a successful team is based on building relationships, and developing strong interpersonal ties. TKE helps our members reach their full potential, and achieve a level of excellence in athletics, Fraternity business, campus activities, or anything else they do.
TKE is committed to instilling a sense of responsibility and service in all of our members. The Fraternity encourages members to provide service to their campus and community through local and national philanthropic activities. Fraternities and sororities contribute countless hours and raise millions of dollars for charitable organizations around the world. Tau Kappa Epsilon consistently ranks #1 in total man-hours contributed through philanthropic and community service activities, according to the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC).
In Tau Kappa Epsilon more than 240,000 men have established solid friendships that last a lifetime. Tekes around the world act as a network of friends, which can be beneficial, both personally and professionally.
